According to the President the aim of the First National Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference on Climate Change was to consider those effects in Hungary and the Carpathian Basis, access the knowledge gained in recent years and to start working on a national report about climate change, which is due to be published in 2023. 

The report seeks to supply clear answers to issues for instance emission trends, climate threats, adaptation and mitigation opportunities as well as the economic, regulatory and budgetary aspects of climate change. Áder added that the first and also one of the most difficult tasks is to raise public support for climate issues in Hungary in such a way that instead of sink into “climate depression” motivates individuals and communities to take action. 

At the same time, Áder warned that mitigating the effects of climate change would require significant changes in sectors such as industry, agriculture, transport and even everyday life. ‘It would be foolish to deny that this would harm certain interests,’ he said.
