Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Marine Le Pen at the Carmelite Monastery in Budapest on Wednesday, to discuss, among other issues, the need for ‘a united and robust response’ of European right-wing parties to the misguided policies of Brussels ahead of the upcoming European parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister of Hungary and Chairman of Fidesz Viktor Orbán held a meeting at the Carmelite Monastery with Marine Le Pen, leader of the parliamentary group of the French National Rally party on Wednesday afternoon, the PM’s press chief Bertalan Havasi informed MTI.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the strengthening of the European Right, with a particular focus on next year’s European parliamentary elections. They emphasized the need for a united and robust response from the continent’s national conservative parties to Brussels’ imperial aspirations, misguided economic policies, and pro-migration initiatives.

The discussion also touched on the political representation of families, and national and Christian values, which are at the forefront of the activities of both the Hungarian government parties and the National Rally in France, Bertalan Havasi added.

Orbán Viktor on Twitter: “Always a pleasure to meet true patriots. Had a great meeting today with Marine Le Pen in Budapest. We need a change in Brussels: this is the only way to stop illegal migration, protect our families and kickstart the European economy.
