American actor James Woods recently shared his enthusiastic approval of Eastern European countries Hungary and Poland’s immigration policies on the social media platform X. It garnered quite a lot of attention, receiving 56,000 likes, nearly 1,000 comments, and nearly 750,000 views in the three days since it was posted.
The tweet verbatim says: ‘Isn’t it interesting that neither Poland nor Hungary is enduring the chaos and violence indigenous to mass immigration? Oh, right, they enforce their borders and their laws.’
In the United States, where James Woods comes from, the approach to border protection is a lot different from that of Hungary under the Biden administration. Millions of illegal immigrants are crossing the Southern border every year, many of them are released into the country by border patrol under the premise of letting them apply for legal asylum status. However, whether or not they actually do is nearly impossible to enforce.
Meanwhile in Hungary, residency permit and asylum applications must be filed outside the country, before the foreign national enters any EU country.
The Orbán administration was under a lot of pressure from Western liberal media and politicians to let illegal migrants into the EU at the outbreak of the 2015 European migration crisis. However, they never buckled,
and put up a border fence on the Serbian border which proved remarkably effective in stopping illegal migrants.
Who is James Woods?
James Woods is a 76-year-old American actor from Vernal, Utah. His two best known roles are two voice-over parts for animated cartoons. He lent the voice for the character of Hades in the 1997 feature film Disney adaptation of the ancient Greek myth Hercules; and he voiced the character based on himself in the popular animated sitcom Family Guy. In addition, he appeared in the 1984 epic crime film Once Upon a Time in America and the 1994 action thriller The Specialist. In 1986, he was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actor category for his part in the war drama Salvador.
Woods is also an avid recreational poker player, having collected $424,000 in lifetime live tournament cashes.
He is one of the few actors in Hollywood who openly voice his conservative opinions
—evidently, it did not help his career in the notoriously left-wing film and entertainment industry in America. A former Democrat, Woods came out in support of Republican President Donald Trump during his first campaign and presidency. With that, his on-camera and voice-over gigs dried up, although he did have an Executive Producer credit on this year’s blockbuster biopic Oppenheimer.
Also, he was banned off of Twitter in 2018. However, with Elon Musk’s takeover, his account is now reinstated and active. He still likes to share rightówing conservative opinions, as evidenced by the tweet cited above.
