‘Our common cause is green energy,’ chief prime ministerial advisor Zsolt Nyitrai stated on Wednesday on his Facebook page on the occasion of the launch of the government’s Green Consultation.
He emphasized that public service is based on cooperation, and therefore the government of Hungary seeks citizens’ opinions on green energy through online dialogue. He highlighted that opinions are being gathered on 13 important issues ranging from solar panels to reducing utility bills to electromobility. The questionnaire can be filled in from today until 15 April on the consultation website.
In a video message alongside the chief advisor’s post Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy spoke about Hungary’s aim to establish a green economy, continuing the transformation of the industry to make it renewed and modern.
The national economy minister emphasized that Hungary’s future lies in green energy. Those who excel in this field will lead the global economy and win the future, while those who lag behind will be left behind, waiting for the next big opportunity, Márton Nagy noted, stressing that this competition is enormous, determining winners among nations and companies. The future of the Hungarian economy is at stake because it will be soon determined where Europe’s green industrial centres will emerge. ‘If we make the right decisions, we can become leaders in a new era of the global economy,’ the minister concluded.
Minister of Energy Csaba Lantos recalled that in recent years significant milestones have been achieved, including surpassing 6,000 megawatts in combined capacity of solar power plants in Hungary, exceeding the previous 2030 projection. ‘If we want Hungary not to lag behind in the global competition, strengthen the Hungarian economy, and achieve our climate policy goals, then we must continue this development. By 2030, we will significantly increase the capacity of solar, wind energy, and storage. The more green energy we can produce and store, the more liveable and sustainable Hungary will become,’ Csaba Lantos underscored.
