During his remarks at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) in Budapest on Thursday, Donald Trump Jr, businessman and son of former US President Trump, discussed American elections, domestic politics, and global affairs, and he also praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
As we reported yesterday, Donald Trump Jr has visited Hungary at the invitation of the President of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During his stay, he was also received by Prime Minister Orbán.
In his remarks and the subsequent discussion at MCC Donald Trump Jr touched upon the upcoming American elections, US domestic politics, and global issues, including the Middle Eastern conflict and the war in Ukraine.
He sharply criticized the administration of US President Joe Biden, highlighting that despite efforts by the Washington leadership to silence dissenting voices out of fear of defeat, it is increasingly losing the trust of people who previously were not involved in politics. He added that Donald Trump had illuminated the flaws in American leadership ‘decades ago’.
The ongoing investigations against the former President were described as baseless by Trump Jr, who claimed that the probes were merely another message from the Democrats that ‘they can do anything to anyone’. He also criticized several foreign policy decisions of the Biden administration, including the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, which he called shameful. He noted that Donald Trump’s foreign policy was based on dialogue, citing successful talks with the Taliban in Afghanistan and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump Jr condemned the Democrats’ immigration policies, which he termed ‘importing new voters’, with more and more Americans becoming disillusioned with the current Democratic leadership. Regarding migration,
he cited Hungary as an example to follow, praising the government’s efforts to curb illegal immigration and the country’s low crime rates.
‘The results speak for themselves,’ he said, referring to the victory of Fidesz–KDNP in the European parliamentary elections in Hungary. He remarked that American conservatives see Viktor Orbán as a great leader who puts ‘Hungary first’, a perspective that should be paramount in the United States as well. According to Trump Jr, Hungary could be ‘one of the last beacons of hope in Europe’.
He opined that ‘today’s conservatives are the real rebels’ and that the younger generations have recognized the importance of traditions. ‘This is what is needed in the United States and elsewhere. This represents the future of Western civilization,’ he declared.
Addressing the war in Ukraine, Trump Jr reiterated the importance of negotiations with all parties involved. He pointed out that although some Republican politicians support continuing sending aid to Ukraine, their voter base does not necessarily share this view. He asserted that if Donald Trump is not elected President, this war ‘could last forever because peace is not profitable’.
Regarding the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, Trump Jr stressed that if Donald Trump were still the US president, the region would not be experiencing such high tension. He expressed hope that Donald Trump would win the presidential election in November but voiced scepticism about the fairness of the elections. ‘Democracy requires trust, but it seems the other side does not care about that,’ Trump Jr concluded.
