MCC Feszt, the annual summer festival of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium is returning this year to its usual host city of Esztergom. MCC Feszt 2024 will be taking place on 1–3 August in the Northern Hungarian city.
Last year, we had major figures from international politics featured at the event, such as former Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurtz, and famed conservative commentator from the US Michael Knowles; as well as popular local musical acts on stage in the evenings.
The programme schedule will have the same structure for MCC Feszt 2024 as well.
In the mornings and afternoons, the event will feature speeches and panels about world affairs by distinguished guests. In the evenings into the nights, you will have live shows by prominent Hungarian musical acts.
The festival kicks off on Day 1 with three concerts in the evening, by Csík Zenekar, 4S Street, and Irie Maffia.
On Day 2, American political strategist Chris Rufo will be talking about how his investigative work brought down the former president of one of the best-known universities in the world.
Claudine Gay resigned from her leadership position at Harvard in January 2024 after a plagiarism scandal originally broken by Rufo.
Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky of Hungary will also take the stage to talk about Hungary’s ‘peace through strength’ philosophy. Another cabinet member of the fifth Orbán administration, Minister of EU Affairs János Bóka will also be making a speech. He will discuss Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the EU.
Day 2 will conclude with three concerts on the Main Stage. Budapest Bar and NOX will be performing live shows, followed by the Romani music band Parno Graszt, who will be returning to MCC Feszt after their highly popular performance last year.
Finally, on Day 3, we will have a panel of right-wing influencers, namely Sara Huff from Brazil and Lauren Chen and Amala Ekpunobi from Canada,
joined by Former Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office in the Trump administration John McEntee,
discussing whether right-wing opinions—or ‘normality’, as the title puts it—are in the majority on social media today. The three musical guests closing the festival on the Main Stage will be Balkán Fanatik, Blahalouisiana, and Neoton Familia.
The inaugural MCC Feszt took place in 2021, with around 13,000 people in attendance. The attendance grew to around 30,000 in 2022, then to over 40,000 last year. This year, the upward trend is expected to continue.
Those looking to take part in the event can get their MCC Feszt Pass now. The pass includes free transport between Esztergom train station and the festival site, free use of the beach baths and discounts on food and drink. As last year, the Edu promenade, some of the daytime professional programmes and evening music programmes will be free of charge.
