Polish MEP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik has been catapulted to fame by her tough speech last week in the European Parliament mercilessly criticizing Ursula von der Leyen. Zajączkowska-Hernik stated, among other things, that von der Leyen should go to jail instead of seeking re-election for her political activities over the past five years. The Polish MEP’s speech has already been viewed by nearly 3 million people on X.

Last week, the European Parliament re-elected Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission with 401 votes in favour. This means she will soon begin her next five-year term at the head of the EU’s executive branch. During the debate preceding the secret ballot, von der Leyen was not treated with kid gloves by MEPs on the right. Polish MEP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik was particularly critical of the Commission President, stating that she should be imprisoned for her actions rather than being re-elected to the top of the EC. Zajączkowska-Hernik’s speech has since gone viral, shared by Dutch right-wing influencer Eva Vlaardingerbroek, and has now amassed nearly 3 million views and 93,000 likes on X.

Polish MEP Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, a member of the new right-wing political group Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN), began her speech by stating that von der Leyen’s election in 2019 was a huge mistake. This was followed by what many described as an ‘astonishing rant.’

The Polish MEP harshly criticized von der Leyen’s immigration and green policies, stating:

‘You are the face of the European Green Deal, which is destroying the European economy and agriculture, leading to Europe becoming an economic backwater. You are the face of all the EU’s climate craziness, which causes us Europeans to become poorer and poorer. Finally, you are the face of the migration pact.’

Zajączkowska-Hernik of the Polish Confederation party went on to ask the Commission President how she isn’t ‘ashamed’ of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, which creates a solidarity mechanism for sharing the burden of asylum seekers’ claims between member states.

‘I address you as a woman to woman, as a mother to mother. How can you not be ashamed, promoting something like the Migration Pact, which leads to millions of women and children in Europe feeling threatened on the streets of their own cities?’

She added: ‘You are responsible for every rape, for every assault, for every tragedy caused by the influx of illegal migrants, because it is you who are inviting these people here to Europe. For what you do,

you should go to prison, not to the European Commission!’

the Polish MEP slapped the harsh truth in the face of von der Leyen.

Zajączkowska-Hernik then gave a practical demonstration of her disdain for the European Green Deal and the Migration Pact by tearing up sheets of paper with these inscriptions in front of Ursula von der Leyen. Throughout the whole speech, the EC President smiled awkwardly and avoided eye contact with the Polish MEP, who, in contrast, maintained direct eye contact with von der Leyen. Zajączkowska-Hernik remarked: ‘You are not even looking in my direction. Shame.’

‘We want a Europe of free and sovereign nations, not a sick, leftist ideology,’ the Polish MEP concluded her emotional speech. Zajączkowska-Hernik received a big round of applause from the EP’s sovereigntist and conservative camp, while the mainstream, left-wing groups booed her.

Zajączkowska-Hernik immediately gained significant popularity, amassing over 114,000 followers on X. In comparison, Daniel Freund, the German Green MEP and a constant critic of Hungary, has only around 25,000 followers after five years of ‘work’ in the European Parliament.
