Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) and news radio station Inforádió are deepening their collaboration, with MCC acquiring a 75 per cent ownership stake in the radio station. The remaining 25 per cent will continue to be held by Márton Módos, Inforádió’s founder and editor-in-chief, who will retain his leadership role.
Despite the ownership change, Inforádió’s professional philosophy and operational approach will remain intact, guided by its long-standing motto, ‘Objectivity Made Lovable’. The current team will continue producing both the radio and its news portal’s content without alteration.
Zoltán Szalai, MCC’s Director General, noted that the partnership reflects a transformative shift in the media landscape, where traditional FM and internet news content increasingly converge with podcasts, video formats, and social media platforms. He highlighted that Inforádió’s 24 years of experience and MCC’s robust institutional foundation provide an opportunity to create new media products and formats, setting a milestone in Hungary’s media market.
‘This step provides MCC’s institutes, professional workshops, and students with a platform to authentically and broadly showcase their work,’ added Szalai. He emphasized that building on Inforádió’s legacy, which includes prestigious awards like the Pulitzer Memorial Prize and Prima Primissima Award, is a priority.
Módos reflected on the partnership’s educational roots, recalling that Inforádió was originally founded at Budapest Communication College (now Metropolitan University). He expressed excitement about new opportunities emerging in audio, internet, and social media content, particularly in engaging younger generations.
The station’s steadfast commitment to professional integrity, continuity, and credibility will remain a cornerstone of its operations. As Módos underscored: ‘The unchanged professional philosophy and our experienced team guarantee the success of this partnership.’
Together, MCC and Inforádió aim to respond to the rapidly evolving media landscape while preserving the station’s founding values.
