In his regular Friday morning interview on public radio, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán outlined plans for Hungary's future, addressing challenges posed by globalist influences, economic priorities, and the changing geopolitical landscape, while stressing that a ‘golden age’ is coming regarding Hungarian–American ties under the Trump administration.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in an interview with public Kossuth Radio, shared his insights on domestic and international challenges facing Hungary. He highlighted the influence of globalist networks, the need for economic stabilization, and his expectations for Donald Trump’s imminent return to the presidency in the United States.

Orbán pointed out that globalist forces, represented by figures like George Soros, continue to push policies that conflict with the interests of ordinary Europeans.

‘If we want to preserve our way of life, we must remove them from Brussels. Otherwise, Brussels will become the new Washington, enforcing Democratic policies,’ he stated.

Orbán reiterated his commitment to expelling the Soros network from Hungary, beginning this spring, with hopes that other European patriots will follow suit. He accused the Soros network of promoting corruption, claiming that Brussels is financially controlled by Soros.

Reflecting on Hungary’s tenure as the rotating EU president, Orbán noted several successes, including progress in peace advocacy. While previously only Hungary and the Vatican championed peace, today, many European leaders consider it a legitimate topic. Orbán also highlighted breakthroughs such as eliminating borders between Bulgaria and Romania and starting EU accession talks with Albania, which helped reintegrate the Western Balkans into European politics. ‘Hungary outperformed expectations, given its size and weight,’ he remarked, attributing the success to Hungary’s proactive approach.

Orbán stressed that peace is essential for Hungary’s economic recovery, citing the negative impacts of war and sanctions on the European economy. He raised concerns about competition from Ukraine’s agricultural sector, which threatens Hungarian and Polish farmers. ‘Without Western funds, Ukraine cannot sustain itself, and its agricultural practices clash with the European system,’ Orbán said, emphasizing the need for protective measures.

Looking ahead to 2025, Orbán projected significant economic improvements, including wage growth and strengthened middle-class stability. He highlighted Hungary’s robust financial reserves, which could stimulate domestic consumption. Energy prices remain a pressing concern for Hungary. Orbán stressed the importance of completing the Paks II nuclear plant by 2030–2032 and protecting the Turkish Stream pipeline from potential disruptions. ‘Without energy security, our economic plans cannot materialize,’ he warned, reiterating his opposition to current EU sanctions policies.

Orbán expressed optimism about Donald Trump’s return to the presidency, suggesting it could usher in a new era of Hungarian–American relations. He criticized the previous Democratic administration, accusing it of sending an ambassador to pressure Hungary into adopting globalist policies.

‘Hungary won’t accept being dictated by outsiders,’ Orbán said, adding that it was no coincidence that he had not once met with the US ambassador during his tenure. He praised Antal Rogán, a minister recently placed on a US sanctions list, as a capable leader in charge of Hungarian intelligence services. According to Orbán, the sanctions have only strengthened Rogán’s position within the government. Looking forward, Orbán stated that a ‘golden age’ is coming in bilateral relations with the United States.

‘Tuesday will mark the start of a new era in Hungarian–American relations. Trump and I have an agreement that could bring unprecedented benefits to both nations,’ Orbán concluded.
