The University of Szeged (SZTE) is set to welcome science enthusiasts to its annual Physics Day this Saturday. The event, dedicated to popularizing science, highlights the diverse career opportunities for physics graduates and showcases cutting-edge research.

The day begins with a series of lectures at the SZTE Bolyai Building, delving into topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in health preservation and the fundamentals of quantum science and technology, as demonstrated through the research conducted at the ELI ALPS Laser Research Institute.

At midday, a roundtable discussion will bring together representatives from SZTE, ELI ALPS, and innovative companies to discuss the wide-ranging demand for physicists in the job market, offering valuable insights for students and professionals alike.

Secondary school students with a keen interest in physics can participate in a university sample lecture, exploring advanced topics such as quantum technology, zero-point energy, and squeezed light, following prior registration. The event has traditionally attracted not only students but also parents and older participants, who can enjoy engaging physics experiments.

Several research groups from SZTE’s Institute of Physics, as well as companies involved in research and development, will present their work. Organizations such as the HUN-REN Biological Research Centre and ELI ALPS will also showcase their contributions to science and innovation.

SZTE’s laboratories will open their doors to visitors, offering opportunities to explore the university’s 3D Centre and learn about laser-based aerosol research and material processing technologies. These activities, available with prior registration, aim to provide a hands-on look at the practical applications of physics in various fields.

In the afternoon, the programme will conclude with the awards ceremony for the Budó Ágoston Physics Problem-Solving Competition. This segment will feature a captivating presentation, complemented by live demonstrations of physics experiments, rounding out a day filled with discovery and inspiration.

Physics Day at SZTE promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees, blending education, innovation, and hands-on activities to demonstrate the boundless possibilities within the field of physics.
