Hungarian public media is launching a multi-platform initiative as part of Marriage Week, with several television and radio channels dedicating programming to the importance of long-lasting relationships. The initiative, which aims to engage audiences across generations, was announced by Director of Kossuth Radio Beatrix Siklósi on M1 News and Kossuth Radio.
The theme of this year’s Marriage Week is ‘Talk for Your Marriage!’, but Kossuth Radio is adding its own message: ‘Don’t Replace It, Fix It!’ Siklósi highlighted the growing societal trend of discarding things that no longer work—a mindset that, she argued, has extended to relationships as well. Public media, she stated, seeks to counter this by promoting values such as loyalty, togetherness, love, and mutual respect as the keys to sustaining long-term relationships.
Another issue, according to Siklósi, is the increasing reliance on digital communication. Public media will therefore use this campaign to highlight the importance of personal conversations in strengthening relationships. As part of this effort, Kossuth Radio’s Good Morning, Hungary! programme will launch an interactive segment, inviting listeners to share key qualities that define a strong marriage. Relationship therapist Dr Gábor Mihalec will analyse the responses.
The campaign will also unite multiple public media platforms, including Duna TV, M5, Kossuth Radio, and Petőfi Radio and TV, to ensure that audiences of all ages are reached. The initiative will feature expert discussions as well as stories from both well-known and ordinary couples, who will share how they have maintained fulfilling relationships over decades.
Through this multi-channel collaboration, Hungarian public media aims to reinforce the enduring value of marriage, encouraging couples to nurture their relationships through communication and commitment.
