Hungary’s President, upon the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has appointed Chairman of the 4iG Group Gellért Jászai as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the development of international business relations to promote Hungary’s economic interests abroad.

President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok has appointed Chairman of the 4iG Group Gellért Jászai as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary responsible for developing international business relations. The appointment, based on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, was officially announced in Wednesday evening’s Magyar Közlöny.

According to the announcement, Jászai’s mandate is to advance Hungary’s economic interests on the global stage, explore new investment opportunities, and foster international business relations. Operating under the guidance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, his responsibilities will include identifying foreign investment prospects, conducting business negotiations, and preparing related agreements. Furthermore, he will work to establish and strengthen the international business relations of Hungarian enterprises, support their operations abroad, contribute to Hungary’s trade and foreign economic strategy, and enhance the global competitiveness of domestic companies through the development of foreign investment partnerships.

Jászai, majority owner and chairman of 4iG, brings substantial experience in both domestic and international capital investment, as well as expertise in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. Since assuming control of 4iG in 2018, Jászai has become the company’s principal shareholder, transforming the organization into one of Hungary’s leading players in the telecommunications and infocommunications markets. Under his leadership, 4iG has expanded its portfolio to provide integrated IT and telecommunications services across Hungary and the Western Balkans, while also playing an active role in the space, defence, and technology industries.

Over the past five years 4iG has executed a strategic growth plan that has successfully propelled the company into international markets. The group’s most significant acquisition to date was the 2023 purchase of Vodafone Hungary, establishing 4iG as one of the dominant entities in Hungary’s telecommunications sector. Furthermore, 4iG has entered into a strategic partnership with German defence industry giant Rheinmetall, which acquired a 25 per cent stake in the company. The involvement of one of the world’s leading defence firms in Hungary’s infocommunications sector, along with successful acquisitions across the Western Balkans and strategic collaborations with American and global aerospace and technology companies, has elevated 4iG to a prominent position on the international stage.

Jászai’s ambassadorial appointment does not affect his leadership role within the 4iG Group, where he continues to oversee the company’s strategic development and international expansion.
