The Recirquel Company has begun constructing Walk My World, an ambitious, immersive theatrical experience at Budapest’s Millenáris Grand Hall. Opening in November, the production invites visitors into a myth-inspired universe like no other.
The large-scale experience will span 40 uniquely designed environments, filled with more than 10,000 props. Visitors will journey through a mystical labyrinth, vast battlefield, military bunker, and a bustling market, among other detailed scenes. The Recirquel team, which also developed the artistic concept, described the show as a fusion of theatre, art installation, roleplay, and interactive adventure.
Walk My World reimagines the classical love story of Aeneas and Dido from Virgil’s epic, The Aeneid, translating the tragic tale into the language of contemporary circus and modern dance. Multiple narrative threads will unfold simultaneously, creating a richly layered experience.
The production’s visuals are being crafted by Hungarian artists with experience in major Hollywood films such as Dune: Part Two and Blade Runner 2049. The design features cinematic-scale elements, including a towering throne, a collaborating robot, a traditional ‘goulash cannon’, and even levitating furniture. These elements will not just be part of the scenery—many are interactive and directly involved in the performance.
The entire creative direction—from costumes and sets to lighting, music, and character design—is being developed in Hungary. Alongside Recirquel’s core troupe of acrobats, the show will feature top-tier Hungarian dancers and international performers of global renown.
Construction of the performance space will continue until July, followed by on-site rehearsals to bring this mythical dreamworld to life.
