During the summer’s largest music festival in Hungary, approximately 160,000 foreign guests arrived, spending 10 per cent more nights in Budapest than during last year’s event. Considering foreign travellers, the most visitors once again came from the Netherlands, followed by Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain, according to the Hungarian Tourism Agency.
In a clip shared on X Interior Ministry State Secretary Bence Rétvári stated that Hungary is being punished for defending the EU’s external borders, and called the judgement by the European Court of Justice ‘obvious political pressure’ to coerce the country into letting in masses of illegal migrants and support Brussels’s war policies. However, he warned that an influx of mass migration can lead to riots like we see in the United Kingdom today.
Over the six days of the festival, approximately 600 performances will be showcased. Many acts will come from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, as well as from Senegal, India, Tanzania, New Zealand, and Benin. The festival can accommodate 95,000 people daily, with 10,000–15,000 of these being staff and partners, leaving space for up to 80,000 ticket holders.
