With two main stages and half a dozen music venues, Balaton Sound was launched on Wednesday. The four-day music festival is taking place in Zamárdi.
Among the performers of the festival are Marshmello, Paul Kalkbrenner, Timmy Trumpet, James Hype, Purple Disco Machine, and from the underground scene, Amelie Lens, Adam Beyer, Marceo Plex, Stephan Bodzin, and Nico Moreno.
At the pre-opening festival tour on Wednesday the organizers showcased the Heineken Balaton Sound main stage, which is decorated with a 400-square-metre LED wall and illuminated by around 400 moving head lights. Unlike previous years, the main stage this year does not face the northern shore but is set up perpendicular to the shore, next to which a VIP area for about 3,000 people, evoking a jungle and an urban milieu, as well as skyboxes, have been created.
The other main stage, the B Stage presented by B my Lake, is set up on the other side of the festival site, also perpendicular to the shore, with a VIP area for 1,000–1,500 people with an oasis theme, where underground electronic music performers will entertain the audience.
At the My Stage venue on the shore teams from Hungarian party brands put together programmes starting already during the day, with international performers joining in the late evening.
On nearly one kilometre of Balaton’s shoreline, the party starts early in the afternoon at several locations, and a party boat sets sail every afternoon.
This year, more attention is being paid to fashion. Stylist Márk Lakatos explained at the press tour that festival-goers will encounter brands featured in daily fashion shows at the Fashion Hub festival area.
The Safety First programme will continue as well; according to crime prevention expert István Jenő Molnár, their volunteers, dressed in easily recognisable yellow clothing, will patrol the Balaton Sound area. There will be Safety First points at several locations, and festival-goers can signal for help using the panic button in the festival app.
Tamás Kádár, CEO of Sziget Ltd, also mentioned that similarly to Sziget, Balaton Sound aims to ensure that guests can eat at affordable prices, so there will be ‘wallet-friendly’ food options at the food stalls.
