As Hungarian Conservative has also reported, on 3 January 2023, the Ontario College of Psychologists (OCP) demanded that the famous Canadian clinical psychologist, Dr Jordan B. Peterson, undergo a ‘mandatory social-media communication retraining’, or they would suspend his clinical licence.
On 23 August, the Ontario Divisional Court dismissed Dr Peterson’s legal complaint against the College of Psychologists of Ontario; therefore, he is forced to comply with the demands of the Ontario College of Psychologists (OCP), which includes going through a so-called ‘specified continuing education or remedial program.’ In a Fox News interview, the famous clinical psychologist recently said that he will comply with the order but will publicize his entire experience so the public could ‘decide for themselves’ about it. He added that depending on the legalities involved, he will either use film, audio recordings or ‘extensive notes and commentary afterwards’
to ensure his experience is well-documented and widely shared.
Dr Peterson will have to pay 250 dollars per hour for the retraining that, as he said, is ‘not a scientific nor a clinical speciality by any standing’. The board regulating psychology practice in Canada has become so politicized that their disciplining fervour is based solely on political disagreements, as no complaints brought by people he interacted with in a clinical context have been cited.
Dr Peterson is Disciplined for His Tweets and Opinion
The OCP’S complaints against Dr Peterson included the whole transcript of his three-hour-long discussion on Joe Rogan’s podcast, his tweets in which he criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, his former chief of staff, Gerald Butts, an Ottawa city councillor, and in which made a joke about the prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern. The OCP added that Peterson did it ‘ ‘disrespectfully’, in a ‘horrific’ manner that spread ‘misinformation’ that was ‘threatening’ and ‘harassing’; that was ‘embarrassing to the profession.’ To the claims, Dr Peterson wrote a public letter to Justin Trudeau in which he stated: ‘I simply cannot resign myself to the fact that in my lifetime I am required to resort to a public letter to the leader of my country to point out that political criticism has now become such a crime in Canada that if professionals dare engage in such activity, government-appointed commissars will threaten their livelihood and present them with the spectacle of denouncement and political disgrace. There is simply and utterly no excuse whatsoever for such a state of affairs in a free country.’
Therapists in Canada Can No Longer Be Honest With Their Clients
In a conversation with his daughter Mikhaila Peterson, the famous psychologist reacted to the decision. Dr Peterson pointed out the fact that the court’s ruling starts with the following statement: ‘When individuals join a regulated profession, they do not lose their Charter right to freedom of expression. At the same time, however, they take on obligations and must abide by the rules of their regulatory body that may limit their freedom of expression.’ He highlighted that this statement shows that the right to freedom of speech in Canada is subject to limitations placed by any level of government for any reason. It’s worth noting that the Canadian Court that decided that Dr Peterson broke the rules is headed by appointees from the very administration he was criticising. Dr Peterson also explained in the conversation that in his case, the rules that he should’ve abided by were written by the Ontario College of Psychologists based on complaints they got not only from Canada but from all around the world.
Dr Peterson pointed out that individuals facing similar prosecution as himself
lack the resources to defend themselves due to the high costs, time commitment, and extreme stress of the legal process.
Dr Peterson highlighted that because of this, many professionals cannot express their real thoughts or are compelled to deceive others. According to a well-known psychologist, numerous professionals are unable to express their true thoughts or are compelled to deceive others. This presents a serious issue, especially for therapists bound by these legal and professional obligations, as lying about certain aspects, such as the gender identity of a minor, can compromise their integrity as a therapist. He explained that honesty is an essential quality for psychologists, and without it, their credibility and effectiveness are at risk.
In the discussion, Dr Peterson also mentioned that even if the OCP decided to take away his licence, other jurisdictions would grant him a licence immediately.
Dr Peterson is at the Centre of the Fight for Freedom of Speech
Dr Peterson became a champion of freedom of speech after he publicly went against the Canadian Bill C-16 in 2016. The bill essentially entails that misgendering people by referring to them with the ‘wrong pronoun’ may qualify as hate speech. According to Dr Peterson, this practically introduces ‘compelled speech’. A confrontation Dr Peterson had with students at the university where he used to teach was videotaped and went viral, making the professor internationally famous. He has become widely known as a voice of dissent regarding wokeism and also a best-selling author. Seven million people bought his first book titled 12 Rules for Life; over 50 million people are following him on his social media platforms; his events are almost always sold-out; videos of his university lectures always go viral, and hundreds of thousands of people say he helped them in critical phases of their lives.
Before he became an outspoken advocate of free speech, the OCP had not submitted any complaints against Peterson for the 20 years he has been practising and hadn’t had any issues with him during his years as a research psychologist at Harvard University and the University of Toronto, either. However, from the moment he became well-known, he has been harassed non-stop.
‘Canada’s Woke Nightmare: A Warning to the West’
The latest The Telegraph documentary titled Canada’s Woke Nightmare: A Warning to the West, made by Steven Edginto, showcases how Canadians are dealing with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s radical reforms, from the promotion of gender ideology in schools and the mass legalization of drugs to his extreme new suicide laws and clampdowns on freedom of speech. From the documentary, it can be seen that Dr Peterson is not the only one who suffers serious consequences for going against Canada’s woke ideology.
The documentary tells the story of a nurse, Amy Hamm, who faces losing her licence to practise after two members of the public complained about a poster she was involved in pledging support to the gender-critical author J K Rowling. The documentary also highlights the concerning issue of children being forced to accept gender ideology in schools. Edginton interviewed an Indian father who was a social worker but was fired by his company for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine. The father shared that, without parental consent, his eight-year-old child was required to wear clothes of the opposite sex for a school day, promoting cross-dressing.
Canada is not only a front-runner in promoting and accepting the most radical gender ideologies, but it is
also the first country in the West to have approved extreme euthanasia laws.
In 2016, the Liberal Party passed legislation enabling assisted suicide for terminally ill Canadians. In 2024, the legislation will be expanded to include those with mental health problems. The campaign group Euthanasia Prevention Coalition estimates that 13,500 people chose state-assisted suicide only last year.
When Edginton asked Dr Peterson about the laws, he explained that ‘as the metaphysical presumption of the Judeo-Christian corpus states, every person carries with them a spark of the divine, that the state has no right to interfere with, in the least quite the contrary, must be respectful of continually.’ He added that with the laws, Canada gave the power to the state to aid people in their own deaths. In the documentary, Edginton spoke with a euthanasia advocate who told him that there are a number of deaths she aids in which there are priests who are involved in assisting to end a person’s life formally.
These shocking stories could be listed endlessly, illustrating how, as Dr Peterson phrased, ‘Canada became the first post-Christian nation in the West.’
Dr Peterson Coming Back to Hungary for the Second Time in 2023
As opposed to the officialdom of Canada, the Hungarian government and the people of Hungary give Dr Peterson all the respect he deserves. During his 2019 visit to Budapest, Dr Peterson was received by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and during his 2022 visit, apart from his full house show at the Budapest Congress Centre, Dr Peterson also gave a lecture at the Sándor Palace, the official residence and offices of the President of Hungary, where he was awarded the civilian class of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary by President of the Republic Katalin Novák.
During his recent visit on 9 May as part of his Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life Tour, Dr Peterson delivered a captivating 2-hour lecture to a full house at the Papp László Budapest Arena. After a few months of his visit, Dr Peterson was invited back to Budapest
to deliver his address at the 5th International Demographic Summit, which will be held on September 14–15.
This year, 60 heads of state and government, church leaders, opinion leaders, media personalities, thinkers and NGO leaders from four continents will share their thoughts on how to create a secure and predictable future for families and future generations.
