Hungarian company H-Vend Service Ltd has introduced a new generation of digital vending machines, designed for remote management and touchless operation. The project, supported by EU funding, aims to enhance convenience, efficiency, and reliability in the vending industry.

At a press conference, CEO Gábor Haska explained that the company, founded in 2001, initially focused on operating beverage vending machines before expanding into design, development, and manufacturing. Their first customized vending solutions debuted in 2010, and continuous advancements have since followed.

The 223-million-forint project, partially funded by a 139-million-forint EU grant, has enabled H-Vend to develop a fully integrated hardware and software ecosystem. This innovation is particularly beneficial for large-scale operators managing thousands of machines.

The smart vending machines are equipped with interactive touchscreens, providing customers with real-time product information and promotional offers. A specially designed mobile application allows users to browse available items, track nutritional information, and make contactless payments. In a corporate setting, employees can also use their ID badges for authentication and purchases, thanks to RFID technology.

For operators, the system incorporates advanced sensors that monitor the status of the machines and detect potential malfunctions. Artificial intelligence analyses incoming data, performs remote diagnostics, and attempts troubleshooting before notifying technicians. This approach significantly improves efficiency and minimizes downtime. Additionally, businesses can utilize the mobile app to launch loyalty programmes and notify customers about new products.

A key aspect of the project was the development of a vacuum storage system for coffee beans, ensuring that the quality and freshness of the coffee remain optimal for extended periods. This innovation directly benefits vending operators, as it enhances the taste and consistency of beverages dispensed by the machines.

H-Vend operates primarily in export markets, serving customers in 20 countries, with France, Spain, and Italy being their most important markets. Over the years, the company has built a solid international customer base and a reliable market presence in these regions.

The family-owned business, employing 34 people, generated 673 million forints in revenue in 2023, reflecting a 32 per cent growth compared to the previous year. Despite a drop in net profits from 57 million forints in 2022 to 26 million forints in 2023, the company remains committed to expansion and further technological innovation.

With the increasing demand for cashless and AI-powered vending solutions, H-Vend is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping the future of automated retail, both in Hungary and abroad.
