For decades, MCC has been committed to helping talented Hungarian students deepen their rhetorical skills and master various argumentation techniques. In line with these goals, the MCC Debate Academy offers a free training programme for those interested in enhancing their critical thinking skills and applying their newly acquired knowledge in various debate settings. Interested participants can apply for the one-year debate leadership training, which can be pursued alongside work or university studies, until 22 September.
The Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC), with a history spanning over 28 years, has always included the promotion and organization of fruitful, open debates as a core part of its talent development and community-building activities. MCC aims to foster a culture of rational debate in Hungary. To ensure that the argumentative and debating skills accumulated over decades can benefit as many people as possible, the MCC Debate Academy was established in 2019.
Participants in the Debate Leadership Training, the foundational programme of the Debate Academy, will learn different methods of argumentation, the rules of rational debate, and various debate formats.
They will gain essential knowledge in argumentation techniques, informal logic, and debating methodologies,
enabling them to pass on these skills, organize, moderate, and evaluate debate events independently. The methodologically diverse training is supported by e-learning materials, a handbook, intensive practice-oriented weekends, and personal professional mentoring.
Upon completing the one-year Debate Leadership Training participants can further develop their skills through the Debate Trainer and Mentor training programmes offered by the Debate Academy and take on roles as debate leaders in the MCC Debate Academy’s unique talent development and community-building programmes, which span the entire Carpathian Basin.
