The Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) and the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing young people who excel both physically and intellectually, and who can deliver measurable success on the international stage for Hungary.
Signed on 16 April 2025, the partnership outlines plans for joint research projects, co-authored academic publications, and shared programmes that enhance student mobility and international experience. The institutions will also exchange educational, research, and cultural opportunities for their students.
According to Dr Tamás Sterbenz, Rector of TF, the collaboration is a major opportunity for the centenary university, particularly because it highlights how social sciences—MCC’s strength—can complement sports science. He emphasized future cooperation in interdisciplinary projects that blend athletic and social science perspectives.
MCC General Director Zoltán Szalai described the agreement as a vital step toward MCC’s mission of nurturing action-oriented, resilient, and patriotic decision-makers. ‘We aim to support peak performance not only through education, but through physical health and mental endurance,’ he said, calling TF the ideal partner in this endeavour thanks to its century-long expertise in physical education and sports.
MCC’s Deputy Director for Professional and International Affairs Péter Lánczi noted the shared goal of excellence in both physical and social sciences. Dr Erika Kendelényi Gulyás from TF’s Research Center for Sport Economics and Decision Sciences added that many potential collaboration topics exist, especially in exploring the social and economic dimensions of sports.
The agreement also includes the development of a concrete action plan, ensuring that all joint initiatives serve the interests of the students.
