Müpa Budapest, one of Hungary’s most iconic cultural institutions, will commemorate its 20th anniversary with a grand weekend of festivities on 15 and 16 March. The event, titled Müpa 20 — A Celebration of Generations, invites audiences to experience the transformative power of arts and culture through a diverse programme of performances.
Over the past two decades Müpa has become a multi-generational meeting place, hosting world-class cultural events, extraordinary concerts, and outstanding performances. As one of Europe’s premier cultural centres, Müpa offers a unique combination of concert halls, theatres, and museum spaces, creating an unparalleled artistic experience for visitors.
The anniversary weekend will feature an array of events showcasing Müpa’s rich artistic offerings: classical music and jazz enthusiasts can enjoy performances by acclaimed artists such as Miklós Perényi, István Várdai, Miklós Lukács, and the Jazzical Trio. In the Together series, Hungary’s leading musical families, including the Lakatos, Kelemen, and Berecz families, will take the stage at the Bartók Béla National Concert Hall. The Movement series highlights diverse dance styles, featuring the internationally celebrated Recirquel troupe, alongside gala shows dedicated to Hungarian folk and contemporary dance. The Musician Generations series underscores the passing of musical traditions across generations, with concerts showcasing organ, trumpet, cimbalom, and cello performances.
The In Sync series promotes the strength of cultural diversity, offering innovative performances such as The Great Hungarian Songbook and Women’s Energy, blending genres and styles. For younger audiences, morning matinees are planned, while fans of lighter genres can enjoy the Random Trip band’s lively concert.
