Patricia Silva, a woman living in Fairbanks, Alaska went to her local Planet Fitness gym for a workout when she came across something peculiar: a ‘man with a penis,’ as she describes the individual in question, was shaving his face in the women’s locker room. She took photos of the incident and shared them on social media. Her complaint was not heard by the gym management, instead, it resulted in the cancellation of her membership.
Fox News Digital and the New York Post have reported on the story. The former also reached out to Planet Fitness leadership, who released this statement in response to the inquiry:
‘Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use the gym facilities that best align with their sincere, self-reported gender identity. The member who posted on social media violated our mobile device policy that prohibits taking photos of individuals in the locker room, which resulted in their membership being terminated.’
That’s right, many American corporations running gyms, spas, or swimming pools now have the very woke policy in place of
letting their customers determining their gender before choosing which dressing room they want to enter
—even if they have all the physical markers of the opposite gender, including genitalia, which is bound to be exposed in a dressing room setting… Planet Fitness corporate called this ‘a judgment free zone’ in their response to Fox News Digital.
In June 2021, a similar incident took place at a Wi Spa location in Los Angeles, California. Disturbed female customers reported a man walking around with an erect penis in the women’s locker room. That event triggered protests and counter-protests.
As it turned out, the man in the women’s locker room, 52-year-old Darren Merager, had had sex crime conviction in his past. He ended up being charged for felony for indecent exposure due to his Wi Spa episode as well, but his case is still pending. The last update on the case was from February 2024, with the first trial hearing taking place late that month. Merager, who is claiming to be a transgender woman in his defence, will be facing a jury of his peers to determine his guilt or innocence.
It is unclear whether the person in the Fairbanks incident will face similar charges—Alaska is one of the most conservative states in the US, which has not voted for a Democrat in a presidential election since 1964. It also currently has a Republican governor and a Republican majority in both houses of the State Legislature (although the state did elect a Democrat to represent its at-large district in the US House of Representatives in 2022). However, Planet Fitness’ corporate headquarters, which dictates such policies within their venues, are in Hampton, New Hampshire, a much more liberal part of the country.
There is one entity who is already suffering the consequences of this woke incident: Planet Fitness.
Their stock price fell about 15 per cent when the news broke. However, it has recovered to some extent since, it is currently at $58.86 a share, as opposed to the $66.92 high before the trans scandal.
Women’s locker rooms are not the only place being attacked by the trans lobby in the West.
There is also a push for letting biologically male athletes compete in women's sports if they identify as a transgender female. Also, woke policy makers want to criminalize so-called 'misgendering', the practice of referring to a transgender person as their biological sex would indicate.
