Director General of the Budapest-based conservative think tank Center for Fundamental Rights Miklós Szánthó has posted an impassioned message on his Facebook page. He has reacted to the news that the European Union had voted to revoke the political immunity of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, two Members of the European Parliament from the Polish right-wing populist PiS party.
Director Szánthó described the move as a ‘shameless witch hunt’ in his Facebook post.
‘The Manfred Weber-led globalist European Parliament has revoked the political immunity of conservative Polish MEPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik because they opposed the measures of Donald Tusk’s Brussels-controlled puppet government aiming to ban public offices,’ he wrote.
‘In stark contrast, Péter Magyar, the globalists’ golden boy at home [in Hungary], is a minion of the same EU ruling class, and they refuse to even discuss his immunity, despite the fact that he was charged with theft and assault in 2024, among other things, following an incident of a drunken night out,’ the Director added.
Magyar, the MEP and leader of the Hungarian opposition party TISZA, is charged in connection with an incident in June 2024. After he spent a night out dancing in a public nightclub, he noticed that one of the patrons was recording him with his cell phone. He then proceeded to take the stranger’s property by force, and allegedly threw the phone into the Danube River.
‘The Hungarian patriots stand firmly by our fellow Poles and against this outrageous hypocrisy!’
‘It is clear that Péter Magyar is the globalists’ latest weapon, a puppet to bring down the sovereign Hungarian government. Once again, the Brussels double standard is undeniable: the conservatives are persecuted while their guilty allies are protected as long as they dance to their tune. The Hungarian patriots stand firmly by our fellow Poles and against this outrageous hypocrisy!’ Director Szánthó concluded his message of public outrage.
