Conservative commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek from the Netherlands, who was one of the speakers featured at CPAC Hungary 2024, recently had one of her videos taken down by YouTube for ‘hate speech’. She posted a screenshot of the notification email to her X page.
The video in question was her speech at CPAC Hungary, titled ‘The Great Replacement is not a theory — it’s a reality’. Thankfully, as she pointed out in her tweet, the video is still up on X, and is performing very well there—it has racked up 54 million views and 102,000 likes.
In her speech, Vlaardingerbroek talks about the crime wave hitting Europe in recent times, and names mass migration as one of its primary causes. She told the audience:
‘Our new reality in Europe consists of frequent rapes, stabbings, killings, murders, shootings, and even beheadings. But let me be clear about one thing: This did not use to happen before. This is a newly imported problem.’
Replacement theory, included in her video title, is the theory that proposes that the ruling elites are actively trying to replace white, Christian populations with immigrants from different cultures in Western countries. On this subject, Vlaardingerbroek stated that this is a phenomenon that ‘everyone who has eyes can see’. She backed this statement up by citing statistics, claiming that 56 per cent of the Dutch capital city of Amsterdam’s population are migrants; while other major cities, such as The Hague and Rotterdam, are almost 60 per cent migrants.
Other major European cities, she went on to point out, also consist of majority-migrant populations, such as London or Brussels.
According to Vlaardingerbroek, this is hard proof that the Great Replacement Theory is true.
The Great Replacement Theory is a controversial topic. The idea originates from French author Renaud Camus. He began writing about this in 1996, while editing a guidebook for the Southern French region of Hérault. The theory is generally regarded as a ‘far-right conspiracy theory’ by mainstream media and tech companies in the West, who deny that ‘global elites’ are making major efforts to replace the native white European populations.
The Fight for Free Speech on Social Media
Thus, it is no surprise that videos discussing that topic would be targeted by YouTube censorship. In recent years, the censorship of conservatives has been ‘toned down’ by major media companies, thankfully—although this case seems to contradict that.
Part of the reason is unfavourable market conditions, which forces tech companies to be more profit-focused, rather than growth and activism-focused. Social media companies are more cautions about losing users by removing the content they want to consume, or banning their accounts altogether for creating and sharing controversial content.
Another major step in the right direction was Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter (now renamed X) in October 2022.
The world’s richest man is an avid advocate of free speech, and has been constantly speaking out against the progressive left and the woke agenda.
