The logistics complex operating with the most modern and innovative technologies, built with a 10 billion HUF investment by Gebrüder Weiss Ltd, was inaugurated on Thursday in Dunaharaszti.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gebrüder Weiss (GW) group Wolfgang Senger-Weiss stated during the pre-inauguration press briefing that following the recession of recent years, there is a resurgence of economic activity. Based on the observed growth in industrial production, particularly in the automotive and electronics industries, one can expect demand for expansion in transportation and logistics services in the coming years.

‘Due to its central location, Hungary serves as a hub for freight traffic

between Western Europe and the Adriatic, Black Sea, and Balkan regions,’ he added.

Central and Eastern European Regional Manager of GW Thomas Schauer highlighted that the new logistics centre is equipped with advanced automated systems, utilizing intelligent technologies for the storage and movement of goods. He mentioned one such innovation, the automated storage system provided by AutoStore, which eschews traditional shelves in favour of plastic bins stored within an aluminium framework, without the need for aisles, managed by self-propelled robots.

Managing Director of GW Hungary Ltd Bálint Varga disclosed that the newly inaugurated complex spans 10,000 square metres, featuring cross-docking warehouses, high-rise storage facilities as well as accompanying offices and 100 loading docks. With this development, the company’s central logistics facility has expanded to 32,000 square metres, bringing the total area of its logistics network in Hungary close to 100,000 square metres.
