Hungarian Ambassador to Poland Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács has been awarded the Order of Polonia Restituta Commander’s Cross by President Andrzej Duda of Poland, the Hungarian diplomatic mission announced on Wednesday, 19 June.
Ambassador Kovács has been serving as Hungary’s diplomatic envoy in Warsaw, Poland since March 2017. She is the daughter of the famed Hungarian professor of history István Kovács. President Dude lauded her exemplary work to strengthen the ties between Poland and Hungary, two historically friendly nations, in the past seven years.
‘I can say with full responsibility that it is rare in the diplomatic corps to find an ambassador who fulfills the role in such an extraordinary way as Ambassador Orsolya Kovács did during her mission to Poland.
She is an extremely active and warm person who has an excellent understanding of the Polish way of thinking,’ President Duda said of Ambassador Kovács in his laudatory speech.
According to the Hungarian state news agency MTI, in her speech, Ambassador Zsuzsanna Orsolya Kovács used her own example to emphasize the importance of cherishing the heritage that spans generations, which, as she said, is the key to maintaining the special relationship between Poland and Hungary.
