Conservative political commentator of The Daily Wire Matt Walsh seems to be a very dangerous man. Recently, he has adopted a Sacha Baron Cohen-style gimmick and infiltrated events posing as made-up personas. Impressively, he even got into the Democratic National Convention that way. It also prompted attendees or organizers to call for law enforcement to get involved—both times, Walsh did not miss the opportunity to point out that
not too long ago many Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris, were campaigning to defund the police…
The first such instance came while shooting his new documentary Am I Racist?. For the sake of the film, he attended a session of a ‘white grief support group’ under the name Steve. What a white grief support group is probably needs some explanation. Well, as Walsh has found out, it is group therapy counselling for white people to help them cope with their overwhelming guilt for the ‘white privilege’ they have.
Once Walsh’s real identity was found out by the group leader and attendees, he was asked to leave, which is quite reasonable. However, as he later learnt, the attendees also called the police on him, but he had already left by the time officers arrived at the scene. The popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok even obtained the police report of the incident, and shared it with its followers.
From that post, we can see that one of the attendees told a responding officer that she had felt so unsafe in the presence of Matt Walsh that she had been contemplating smashing a window with a chair to escape. That is quite a peculiar statement since, as Walsh himself points out in his video about the events, no regular exits were blocked while he and his film crew were on the scene, so the disturbed woman could have just easily left through the door.
At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois last week, Walsh posed as a Kamala Harris-supporting media personality and conducted interviews with several attendees. He also got them to agree with his exaggerated parodies of woke sentiments, such as if a white person enters a room where people of colour are present, they should always stay on the periphery, and let the minority people take the centre of the room.
He also got former CNN anchor Don Lemon to promote his website Project2025.com by claiming it is an exposé of Donald Trump’s radical agenda, when in fact it is a pro-Trump campaign site.
Needless to say, these antics did not please the organizers, and Walsh was eventually ejected from the premises. What is interesting, however, is that neither the security guard nor the officers were willing to give him the reason why he had to leave according to footage shared of the incident.
Matt Walsh’s new documentary Am I Racist? premiers in film theatres in the US on 13 September.
