‘In light of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and China, Hungary has a special role at this year’s Pujiang Innovation Forum,’ said László Bódis, Deputy State Secretary for Innovation at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), in a statement on Saturday.

‘Our goal is to strengthen our research, scientific, and innovation relations with our Chinese partners, as China is not only ahead of Europe but also the United States in terms of innovation and science,’ he remarked.

Deepening Relationships with Chinese Universities and Companies

He added that Hungary aims to be at the forefront of global achievements in various fields of science, research, and innovation. To achieve this, it is essential to establish close collaborations with Chinese companies and universities. The main objective of the Hungarian delegation is to reinforce, expand, and deepen these relationships, with the aim of fostering partnerships by the end of the forum that would enable Hungarian companies to market their products and services in China.

Bódis also mentioned that during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Hungary in May, a cooperation agreement was signed between the two countries in the field of research and development, with the goal of establishing joint laboratories between Hungarian and Chinese higher education research institutes. According to Bódis, the forum not only benefits Hungarian companies but also offers Hungarian universities opportunities to develop partnerships with top-tier Chinese universities and research institutes.

On Sunday, a Hungarian sub-forum was held as part of the China–Hungary Science and Innovation Day, focusing on one of the key areas of the John von Neumann Programme—healthy living. This theme centres on Hungarian medical and health science research and innovations.

The Pujiang Innovation Forum, which has been held annually since 2008, is now in its 17th year. The event consists of several thematic forums and professional exhibitions, bringing together key players from China’s innovation ecosystem alongside government officials, innovators, and scientific researchers from numerous countries around the world.
