According to the latest party preference survey conducted by conservative think tank and pollster Századvég, the Fidesz–KDNP alliance continues to lead the ranking of Hungarian political parties.
Századvég informed on Monday that among politically active Hungarian citizens (those who are certain or likely to vote), the governing parties currently hold 40 per cent support.
In second place, trailing by nine per cent, is the Respect and Freedom Party (Tisza) with 31 per cent, followed by Mi Hazánk (Our Homeland Movement) and the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party (MKKP), both holding 6 per cent each.
‘8 per cent of politically active respondents either remain undecided or did not disclose their preference when asked which party they would support’
They added that left-wing parties are currently below the 5 per cent parliamentary entry threshold.
8 per cent of politically active individuals either remain undecided or did not respond when asked which party they would support if the parliamentary election were held this Sunday.
Looking solely at the preferences of active party supporters, Fidesz-KDNP would receive 43 per cent of votes, Tisza 32 per cent, while Our Homeland Movement and MKKP would each garner 7 per cent if elections were held this Sunday. The parties of the left-wing alliance, with less than 5 per cent, would not gain seats in the National Assembly, according to the report.
The survey was conducted in October, based on responses from one thousand adults.
Earlier, left-leaning pollster Publicus and close-to-Momentum party 21 Research Center measured a Tisza lead among certain-to-vote respondents, with Publicus finding that Tisza stands at 39, while Fidesz at 37 per cent, and 21 measuring Tisza at 42 and Fidesz at 40 per cent. Publicus also found that Tisza is ahead of Fidesz (albeit within the margin of error) among the entire voting age population, with 24 and 23 per cent respectively. 21 said Fidesz is still ahead of Tisza among the entire population, standing at 29 per cent; according to them, Tisza currently has a 26 per cent support.
