As 2024 unfolds as a pivotal, election-packed super year, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, asserted in his Facebook post on Monday, saying ‘We know there will be immense pressure, but in the future, we will not yield to any form of coercion and will not abandon the representation of national interests.’
Minister Szijjártó articulated that, according to all available and credible statistics,
this year will be the political equivalent of the Super Bowl.
Never before has it occurred that elections are held in 78 countries worldwide within a single year, the outcomes of which will directly impact nearly 4 billion people. He also emphasized that 2024 will be a monumental election year across the world, with Hungary too participating in the European Parliamentary elections. Simultaneously,
hundreds of millions of citizens will cast their votes in the United States, Russia, India, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
Given that nearly half of the world’s population may be coming to the ballot boxes, the outcome of this year’s elections will be crucial from a global perspective. From our standpoint, American and European Union elections provide an opportunity to replace war, arms shipments, and senseless human sacrifices with peace-building—as stated in the post.
He went on to write: ‘In this year, Hungarians will fight to open the eyes of Brussels, and the leadership of the European Union will finally see reality, thereby becoming capable of correcting the leadership mistakes of the past.’
Hungarian Conservative has recently reported on the importance of the political events of 2024:
Szijjártó also pointed out that with everything awaiting us this year, we find ourselves in the midst of the formation of a new world order, where more effort than ever will be required to guarantee the physical and economic security of the country. This is to ensure that Hungary emerges as one of the winners in the emerging new era.
He concluded by stating, ‘The international liberal mainstream has always exerted immense pressure on us. However, we have consistently persevered, and it has always been proven that we did the right thing.’
