Speaking at the Trump Business 2025 Forum, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization Donald Trump Jr praised Hungary and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for defending Western civilization and serving the country’s national interests. The eldest son of US President Donald Trump also hinted at possible future US investments and cooperation in key sectors.

Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization and eldest son of US President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr, visited Hungary over the weekend as he kicked off a regional business trip aimed at expanding investments in Eastern Europe. During his visit, he met Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and participated in the Trump Business 2025 Forum.

According to media reports, the eldest son of the US president spoke at the forum—which was closed to the public—, emphasizing the strong personal relationship between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his father. He described it as the foundation for deepening economic ties between the two countries, a sentiment echoed recently by several US officials, including US Chargé d’Affaires Robert Palladino.

Donald Trump Jr Kicks Off Regional Business Trip in Hungary

Trump Jr called Hungary ‘one of the last bastions of light’ and expressed his hope that many good deals could be concluded, noting the various threats surrounding Hungary and the Central and Eastern European region. ‘Looking at Hungary and the other countries in the region, it is like heaven, because the political leadership is protecting the people and the culture,’ he opined.

He also addressed the challenge that illegal migration poses to Europe and Western civilization, highlighting Hungary’s unique approach. In June 2024 the European Court of Justice fined Hungary €200 million for failing to align its migration policies with EU law. Additionally, Budapest is required to pay €1 million per day until it achieves compliance. By mid-April 2025 the accumulated fines exceeded €500 million, with the European Commission deducting the amount from EU funds allocated to Hungary.

Trump Jr described the fine as ‘one of the best deals of modern diplomacy’, arguing that it would cost far more to fund the care of immigrants who, in his view, ‘do not really want to integrate’.

Prospects for Future US–Hungarian Cooperation

As Hungarian Conservative reported earlier, Trump Jr arrived in Hungary on Thursday. He met several business leaders, including Executive of Hungarian telecommunications giant 4iG Gellért Jászai. Regarding prospects for bilateral cooperation, Trump Jr encouraged American businesses to recognize Hungary’s investment potential, singling out the pharmaceutical and technology sectors for closer collaboration.

‘There is now an opportunity for American investors, the Hungarian people and the American people to come together and create a respectable front, and not just depend on people who are not necessarily passionate about our values and beliefs,’ he said in an interview with Hungarian media outlet Portfolio, published on Monday. He highlighted that successful partnerships require cooperation between governments and the private sector.

Trump Jr serves as Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization but holds no official position within the Trump administration or the US government. His Eastern European visit is of a private nature. Following his stay in Hungary, he also visited Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia.
