Member of the Hungarian National Assembly and communications director of the governing Fidesz party Tamás Menczer has shared a video of his recent speech in parliament on his Facebook page. The video, posted on Tuesday, 8 October, is simply captioned ‘Viktor Orbán was proven right again!’
‘During his peace mission, Viktor Orbán met with the Presidents of Ukraine, Russia, and China, as well as the President of Turkey; and held talks with Donald Trump as well. Then, he submitted a report to the President of the European Commission. This was back in July.
The first point of that report said the following: “It is a general observation that the intensity of the armed conflict will radically escalate in the near future.” This is what the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote in July, which turned out to be the case. Viktor Orbán was proven right. He also wrote about how it had become clear to him during the meetings and talks that the belligerent parties do not want a ceasefire, they can only be brought to the negotiation table by a third-party mediator,’ MP Menczer stated in the video shared on his social media.
He went on to say that the role of former US President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump is crucial, since the current leadership in Washington, D.C. and Brussels are ‘pro-war’, thus they are not willing to take on the mediator role.
Prime Minister Orbán has repeatedly stated his opinion in multiple public forums that the only way that the war in Eastern Europe will come to an imminent end is if President Trump is reelected in the upcoming election this November. PM Orbán met with the former POTUS at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida twice this year already: once in March, and once in July after the NATO summit.
