During his regular interview on Friday morning on public Kossuth radio, Viktor Orbán also commented on the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the American Republican presidential candidate and former president. The Hungarian PM pointed out that the number of spectacular attacks that capture the world’s attention is increasing, and all such attacks are against anti-war, pro-peace politicians.
In his assessment he opined that ‘the war forces are in such an excited, tense, incited, organized state that they are trying to sweep the pro-peace forces off the stage or out of the centre of political life.’
He indicated that he spoke with President Trump two days before the assassination attempt, and they had a more than two-hour discussion. He summarized his impressions by saying that Donald Trump is in good shape, ready for battle, and ‘this was perhaps evident in how he survived the assassination attempt.’
‘Thanks be to God He did not let them kill him,’ said the Prime Minister, expressing hope that this means God has plans for the president.
‘And what else could God’s plan be in a time of war like this but for someone to bring peace, and he was the president of peace,’
he remarked.
Viktor Orbán also indicated that they had discussed economic issues with Donald Trump and there are several points in the US President‘s programme that he would gladly bring to Hungary next year.
He stated that he finds the presidential candidate’s proposal for tax-free tips noteworthy.
‘I do not see the necessity to tax tips here in Hungary either,’ he said.
