In a recent statement issued jointly with Hungarian LGBT organizations, Amnesty International called on Viktor Orbán’s government to repeal the 2021 Child Protection Act, which targets gender ideology in education and the corruption of children.
According to the report published by Amnesty International, the pro-family policy introduced by the Prime Minister is contrary to human rights, as it discriminates against individuals from the LGBT community and fosters a climate of fear in society.
‘This law has no place in Hungary and is fuelling increased stigmatization and negative stereotypes of LGBT people. It must be repealed immediately, and measures must be taken to repair the damage it has caused,’ Amnesty International Hungary’s LGBT rights officer Eszter Mihály said.
Viktor Orbán, however, defended the law by saying that
it gives parents the opportunity to ‘decide how to sexually educate their children’
and does not discriminate against any group. ‘I defend the rights of homosexuals, but this law is not about that; it is about the rights of children and their parents,’ the Prime Minister told the press after the law was passed.
The pro-family law was adopted by the Hungarian Parliament in June 2021 and was announced as a reform aimed at strengthening the protection of minors against the crime of paedophilia, supporting family and child policy, and giving parents the freedom to choose the type of sexual education they prefer their children to have.
Specifically, this law banned activities ‘promoting homosexuality’ or gender reassignment in educational institutions. At the time, the adoption of the law provoked great controversy and anger in the European Parliament, which generally supports policies promoted by the liberal agenda.
In the Hungarian parliament, the law was passed by a two-thirds majority, with no dissenting votes.
As opposed to that, there was so much outrage in Brussels that the Commission even froze EU funds due to Hungary, and the whole left-wing world protested against Orbán.
The truth is that
Hungary had the right to pass this law, as education is the responsibility of each sovereign state.
The European Union has no say in such matters.
However, Article 26(3) of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly states that ‘parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children‘. Therefore, the law also aims to protect parents’ right to decide on their children’s education.
In this regard, the Hungarian government has called a referendum in April 2022 to ask the will of the people on this issue. The ballot paper included four questions on the inclusion of gender ideology and policies supporting LGBT agenda. More than 90 per cent of respondents to the popular consultation opposed these policies and supported the government-backed pro-family law.
Why are liberals so obsessed with the sexualization of children? And why are they encouraging the scandalous behaviour of doctors complicit in grooming children and adolescents to undergo hormone therapies and sex reassignment surgery, amputating healthy organs, which is an irreversible procedure?
In a world descending ever further into madness, the Hungarian government continues to show the path of common sense, going against the ‘sexual identity’ confusion unreasonably promoted and fuelled even by some parents poisoned by the leftist agenda.
