With the presidential election excruciatingly near, the DNC roared into action. The Democrats even enlisted Barack Obama, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and champion of human rights who also oversaw the dropping of tens of thousands of bombs across seven countries and the killing of 400–800 civilians. The Democratic Party pulled out all the stops with grand theatrical speeches, spotlights, and a full arsenal to gain momentum in their efforts to stop Trump.
On Wednesday morning, the liberal media could talk of nothing else but what the Obamas had said at the DNC. The former president had conspicuously violated before the unwritten tradition that former presidents do not publicly campaign for candidates, but after Clinton and Biden, now Harris too needs the help of the last popular Democratic politician.
Much was said at the Democratic jamboree, including some things that would raise the eyebrows of any reasonable person.
The first stunning news broke before the Convention even started, with reports stating: ‘Congressional Democrats are largely content to wait until after the election for Kamala Harris to drill down on her policy agenda. ’
So, according to Democratic lawmakers, the American people should vote for their candidate without knowing what she wants or will do.
This is concerning in itself, but perhaps even more worrying is why they want to keep quiet about the plans and dreams of the notoriously woke liberal presidential candidate. Presumably, they are too radical even for the Democratic public, which is alarming.
‘Democratic lawmakers call it a savvy strategy. They’d rather lay out a specific plan post-November when a potential President-elect Harris would have to staff up her administration and determine her governing priorities.
‘She doesn’t need to negotiate against herself. We’ve got the biggest possible tent right now,’ said Rep. Ann McLane Kuster (D-N.H.), chair of the centrist New Democrats. ‘I don’t think there’s a real strong reason for her to try to weed out any points of view right now.’
So, dear American voters, you will find out what you voted for only when it’s too late. The power of the American presidency is vast; if unsuspecting centrist voters elect a progressive radical president, even four short years can cause irreversible damage to the America of normality, the America of Americans.
But let us move on to the DNC.
Abortion
An unusual article has surfaced around this sensitive and divisive issue in the US, accusing the Democrats and Harris of not being permissive enough on abortion and lacking ambition in their plans. This is something we haven’t heard before. Specifically, POLITICO reports: ’Harris has clarified that she is sticking with Biden’s call to restore Roe, which protected abortion up to fetal viability — around 22 to 24 weeks — and allowed mandatory waiting periods and targeted regulations on clinics that forced many to close.’
‘Even some groups pouring money into boosting Harris are critical of the Roe-focused approach,’ they added.
‘Starting at Roe is the wrong framework’, said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. ‘We don’t want just some of our rights’, she added. ‘We want them all. ‘
So, who is more progressive here? Trump, who is more permissive on abortion than most Republicans but who welcomes the overturning of the much-criticized Roe, or Harris, who, according to these reports, is only allowed to attempt to reinstate Roe (which is by no means guaranteed). It’s a peculiar situation, as the right to abortion was a classic top issue for the Democrats in the 2020 and 2022 midterm campaigns. Yet now, in the 2024 campaign, they are not promising anything on this front, and indeed, if Trump were to introduce a conservative but orderly national regulation, he might do more in this area than Biden’s ‘restore Roe’ plan. Of course, as I already hinted at it above,
we cannot know if they are telling the truth or just whispering into the ears of centrist voters in battleground states,
with the Democrats waiting to unveil their radical liberal plans only after a possible victory.
Ukraine and Foreign Policy
Loyal Democratic vassals also spoke up regarding Harris, as summarized by POLITICO: ‘Prominent members of the Washington diplomatic corps said Tuesday that they don’t expect a Kamala Harris presidency will differ much from the Biden administration when it comes to U.S. support for Ukraine and U.S. engagement with transatlantic allies.’
These are precisely the hawkish statements that send chills down the spines of Americans and Central and Eastern Europeans alike. Because what exactly does this mean? Another four years of severe economic, energy, and humanitarian crises? Constantly dangling the prospect of a world war or a nuclear catastrophe in Europe with Russia? More Middle Eastern conflicts? The continued strengthening of BRICS? Even more retreat into the North Atlantic ‘bunker’? Hundreds of thousands more dead and millions in mourning and crippled? The further rapid decline of the middle class due to rising living costs?
Dear voters, average citizens! Do you think these diplomats have your interests at heart? I don’t think so.
And that is bad news for me as a Hungarian, too, having suffered the economic effects of the war in Ukraine for years.
Finally, the Broken Record: Trump, Trump, Trump
We’ve already mentioned that the Democrats aren’t rolling out any policy plans in the campaign, are continuing their brutal warmongering, and
every other message they have can be summed up in one word: Trump.
The Democrats, who often accuse Trump of populism, demagoguery, and fascism, are increasingly resorting to demagogic, populist, and fascist tactics themselves by instilling fear and turning Trump into a bogeyman, repeating the tired old tropes about him incessantly (not to mention using other means such as deploying law enforcement and the judiciary for partisan purposes against their political opponent). As posted on Facebook by the GOP, on the night of 19 August alone, the word ‘Trump’ was mentioned 147 times at the DNC meanwhile ‘inflation’ three times, ‘crime’ six times, and ‘border’ only eight times. This also proves that the Democrats have no answers to the challenges facing the US and the world, which is no surprise, as they are the ones causing most of them. Hopefully, they cannot fool the American people much longer.
