As more than 60 NGOs appeal to Brussels to step in and fill the gap left by the halted US foreign assistance following Donald Trump’s decision to shut down USAID, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán vows that the globalist network will find no safe haven in Europe.

It would have been naive to assume that shutting down the US Agency for International Development (USAID) would immediately put an end to all globalist interference. Instead, as the Hungarian government had previously warned, the network is merely being restructured and relocated from Washington to Brussels. Clear signs indicate that this process is already underway, as highlighted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in his latest post on X.

‘WARNING! Our fears have come true: the globalist-liberal-Soros NGO network is fleeing to Brussels after President Trump dealt a huge blow to their activities in the US,’ Orbán cautioned. The Hungarian prime minister further revealed that 63 NGOs are now seeking funding from Brussels under the guise of human rights projects. ‘We will not let them find safe haven in Europe! The USAID files exposed the dark practices of the globalist network. We will not take the bait again!’ Orbán declared.

Orbán Viktor on X (formerly Twitter): “WARNING! Our fears have come true: the globalist-liberal-Soros NGO network is fleeing to Brussels, after President Trump dealt a huge blow to their activities in the US. Now 63 of them are asking Brussels for money, under the guise of various human rights projects. Not going to… / X”

Accompanying his post, Orbán shared a link directing users to the website of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), a Geneva-based NGO that claims to promote ‘human rights and the rule of law’ globally. A closer look at its financial backing reveals notable funders, including USAID and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF). Over the past five years, ICJ has received approximately $2.5 million from USAID through various grants, while OSF has contributed around $3.6 million to its activities.

Now, ICJ, along with more than 60 other civil society organizations, has issued an ‘urgent appeal’ calling on EU leaders to ‘take immediate action to address the global development aid crisis’ triggered by recent decisions of the US administration. According to ICJ, the Trump administration’s move to halt nearly all US foreign assistance—except in cases where a funding freeze would result in immediate loss of life—has led to ‘devastating consequences’, including the closure of clinics, the suspension of life-saving disease treatment programmes, the disruption of human rights and rule-of-law initiatives, and a funding crisis for NGOs worldwide.

Trump Cuts Off the Snake’s Head, Sidelines USAID Leadership

In response, ICJ is urging the EU, as the ‘world’s largest foreign aid provider’, to ‘step up its leadership and ensure continued support for democracy, human rights, global health, and humanitarian assistance’. The appeal further outlines key areas where the EU should assume USAID’s former role, with a particular emphasis on reproductive rights, gender equality, and LGBTIQ rights—terms which, when stripped of progressive rhetoric, equate to the continued promotion of woke madness and globalist agenda.

As Hungarian Conservative previously reported, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement that his administration would halt foreign aid, several progressive outlets had already hinted that Brussels would eventually step in to fill the funding gap.

‘The EU can be one of its crucial actors—not by simply substituting itself for the US by increasing its contributions, but by first and foremost positioning itself as a voluntary actor for a deep change of the system,’ EUobserver wrote at the time. Moreover, progressive MEPs, such as German Green Daniel Freund—a vocal critic of Hungary—have openly advocated for this approach. ‘It should be the duty of the EU to fill this funding gap. It is in our very own interest, because if no one checks on corruption in Hungary anymore, Orbán and his cronies will steal more and more EU funds,’ Freund stated in a post on X.

Brussels May Replace USAID in Funding Globalist Network — Will We Allow It?

Now, it appears that the operation to relocate the network to Brussels is well underway. This development also comes just days after MCC Brussels published a report exposing how the European Commission funds NGOs, think tanks, and media outlets—including former Belgian prime minister and liberal MEP Guy Verhofstadt’s European Movement International, which received €15 million in funding—to advance its agenda.

Calls for EU’s Own Musk-Style DOGE Intensify — Here’s Why

However, while Prime Minister Orbán and his political director Balázs Orbán have both vowed not to allow Europe to become the globalist network’s fallback plan, the challenge remains: how can these processes be stopped? One potential solution would be the creation of an investigative watchdog similar to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), co-chaired by US billionaire Elon Musk, which played a crucial role in dismantling USAID and exposing its network in Washington. MCC Brussels has also advocated for the establishment of a European DOGE in its recent report. However, such an initiative would require the support of more EU member states other than Hungary to become a reality.
