Speaking at the exhibition, Tristan Azbej highlighted that while Christian communities in the Middle East are still in a difficult situation, the persecution of Christians is most serious in western parts of Africa, with Islamic State and other jihadist groups threatening communities. In Nigeria alone, some 3,000 Christians are killed each year, therefore Hungary Helps has decided to focus its activities on that region.

Speaking in the National Assemblyabout the possibility of a military mission being launched, Hungarian Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky explained that such a mission would only take place at the invitation of the Chadian president, and within this framework, a maximum of 200 soldiers would serve from the spring of 2024.
Foreign Minister Szijjártó said Israel has the right to take action over the brutal Hamas attack, underlining that ‘Israel does indeed have a right to self-defence.’ At the same time, the minister also noted that most countries want to avoid the escalation of the fight against terrorism into an interstate war resulting in ‘a real global security tragedy’.
